Lead Applied AI/ML for Payments

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Masters degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• At least 6 years of professional AI/ML experience delivering production systems
• At least 4 years of advanced Python development in production environments, including using AI-assisted coding tools while maintaining code quality
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience designing and deploying production machine learning systems on AWS, such as SageMaker, Lambda, ECS/EKS, or S3
• Track record of delivering scalable AI/ML solutions with measurable business outcomes
• Experience with object-oriented design, distributed systems, and performance engineering
• Experience building and deploying LLM applications, including retrieval-augmented generation and fine-tuning workflows
• Production experience in NLP, computer vision, OCR, or document AI
• Experience implementing MLOps practices with tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow, feature stores, or model registries
• Experience mentoring engineers and delivering against multi-quarter roadmaps
• Strong communication skills, including translating business needs into technical deliverables for senior stakeholders
• Preferred: Experience delivering AI/ML solutions in wholesale payments, transaction banking, or financial services
• Preferred: Familiarity with model risk management, model governance, and responsible AI practices
• Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
• Preferred: Experience with real-time or streaming inference
• Preferred: Contributions to open-source machine learning ecosystems or peer-reviewed publications

• Partner with senior business stakeholders to frame problems, define success metrics, and align AI/ML roadmaps with business priorities
• Lead the architecture, design, and end-to-end delivery of enterprise AI/ML solutions for Wholesale Payments Operations
• Develop clean, performant, production-quality code and establish engineering standards across the team
• Promote modern software development lifecycle, CI/CD, and DevOps practices
• Deploy and operate AI/ML services at scale on AWS
• Apply data and text mining, document analysis, classification, OCR, NLP, and LLM techniques, including retrieval-augmented generation and fine-tuning
• Design and implement secure, scalable data pipelines for model training and inference
• Establish MLOps, model governance, monitoring, and responsible AI practices, and represent the team in architecture and risk forums
• Assess production model performance, including drift management and reproducibility
• Mentor engineers, lead code and design reviews, and contribute to recruiting and talent development
