This is a hands‑on accounting leadership role, not a strategy seat. You will own the function, run the close, and manage the team. Direct access to ownership and the expectation that you will build something better than what exists today. The person who gets this role is not just technically strong. They are a leader who makes teams run tighter, faster, and cleaner. If you have spent your career building accounting functions inside entrepreneurial real estate operators and you know what it takes to manage a team of 10 to 20 people day to day, this was written for you. Responsibilities Lead and organize a distributed accounting team, set the pace, and hold people accountable to it Own the full close cycle across multiple entities, including consolidations and financial statement delivery Build and enforce internal controls that actually get followed as the portfolio grows Serve as the direct accounting partner to ownership, translating numbers into decisions in real time Manage all third‑party accounting relationships, auditors, tax advisors, and banking contacts Drive cash flow visibility and treasury oversight across a complex and expanding portfolio Evaluate the current accounting tech stack and push for improvements that reduce manual work Oversee owner reporting and ensure accuracy and timeliness across all property‑level financials Must‑Have Skills Senior Controller or Director of Accounting title with 15+ years of progressive accounting experience in multifamily Proven track record managing accounting teams of 10 to 20 people hands‑on, not at arm's length Deep experience with multi‑entity consolidations and full‑cycle close in a real estate ownership environment Strong with using Appfolio Nice‑to‑Have Skills Experience managing offshore or distributed accounting teams Background supporting portfolio company reporting in a private equity or consolidation environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
