Piggly Wiggly of Farmville is looking for an experienced Meat Market Manager to lead our Meat Department!

We are looking for someone who knows the meat business, takes pride in their department, and understands how to keep a fresh, well-stocked meat case while controlling inventory and shrink. This is a hands-on management position, so the right person should be comfortable cutting meat as well as managing the daily operation of the department.

What You'll Do:

- Manage the day-to-day operation of the Meat Department
- Cut, trim, prepare, wrap, weigh, and price fresh meat
- Keep meat cases full, fresh, clean, and properly merchandised
- Order product and maintain proper inventory levels
- Monitor sales, gross profit, inventory, and shrink
- Control waste through proper ordering, production, rotation, and markdowns
- Merchandise weekly specials
- Maintain proper dating, rotation, pricing, and labeling
- Train, schedule, and supervise Meat Department employees
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to our customers
- Maintain a clean and organized cutting room, cooler, freezer, and sales area
- Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements
- Work with Store Management to grow department sales and improve results

What We're Looking For

- Previous meat cutting experience is required
- Meat department management experience is preferred
- Knowledge of beef, pork, poultry, and fresh meat preparation
- Strong cutting and merchandising skills
- Experience with ordering, inventory, and shrink control
- Dependable and able to lead by example
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to work in refrigerated areas and lift cases of product
- Available to work mornings, weekends, and holidays--essentially, an open schedule

The Person We're Looking For:

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their department. We are looking for someone who plans, is proactive, notices when the case needs attention, know what needs to be cut and ordered, keeps an eye on shrink, and makes sure your customers and employees are taken care of.
