Summer Children's Advocate - Grove Campus Summer Children's Advocate(Grove Campus) Temporary Assignment SAFE Alliance seeks three (3) Summer Children's Advocates for the temporary assignment in the Residential & Support Services program in the Children's Services department. With a keen eye for optimizing work processes and service delivery, this position will provide support and follow up response to the children's advocacy team in response to client needs. This position provides emotional support to children within a client and family focused lens; support includes implementing strategies and interventions that will help children feel safe and supported in the summer program. We are looking for three people to work on a full‑time, non‑exempt basis for an hourly salary of $21.00 to $22.00 dependent upon experience. The work location will be based at both our Grove Blvd. Campus in the East Austin area and our new Community Shelter Campus in the Pecan Springs‑Springdale area. This position will include some travel in the community or between campuses with no ability for remote/hybrid work. The shift currently available is Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. This position is a TEMPORARY/SUMMER ONLY assignment that will end on August 7, 2026. Required Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Child Development, or a related field or equivalent years of professional‑level relevant experience, relevant volunteer experience, and currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Child Development (or a related field) is acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree. Preference of 1 year of experience working with children and a high preference for applicants that have worked in a residential program, with homeless youth, or children that have experienced violence/abuse. One to two years crisis intervention experience preferred. Knowledge of parenting skills, child development, family relations, and the network of children's services in the Austin area. Knowledge of and the ability to identify child abuse and neglect and to respond appropriately. Knowledge or background in the topics of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, poverty and disability preferred. Ability to work as a team member, providing support as well as constructive feedback in interpersonal interactions. Be capable of sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as be able to intermittently push, pull, or lift 50 lbs. of force. With reasonable accommodation, this position requires the manual dexterity to sufficiently operate phones, computers, and other office equipment.
