What we're looking for The Registrar is responsible for collecting patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. Collects insurance, co-pay, and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the registration process. Provides a positive first impression of the hospital to the public. How you'll contribute Ensure that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy. Distribute and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members. Meet with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions. Communicate with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement. Verify insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determine and accept required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up Required Skills Strong critical thinking skills Decisive judgment and ability to act independently Ability to work with minimal supervision Capability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and stressful environment Strong communication and customer service skills Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry Education High School Diploma or GED Preferred; Associate degree preferred.
