Nutrition Coordinator

Overview Department: UCLA Housing & Hospitality (H&H). The Nutrition Education Coordinator oversees nutrition and wellness programs for H&H, aligning education initiatives with dining operations and supporting the nutritional needs of the Housing & Hospitality community. The role collaborates with senior dining leadership, students, parents, and dining management to address medical conditions or food allergies, support dining operations, student success, and employee wellness, and maintain nutrition information for residential dining facilities using the Jamix Food Management System. Responsibilities Oversee all nutrition and wellness programs for Housing & Hospitality, including planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of evidence-based initiatives. Develop and deliver education programs and services supporting the community’s nutritional needs and aligning with dining operations. Coordinate wellness outreach events for students and team members within H&H. Collaborate with students, parents, and dining management to address individual nutrition needs related to medical conditions or food allergies. Support dining operations, student success, and employee wellness by providing nutrition education, consulting on menus, and managing recipes and nutrition data. Conduct training, lead outreach efforts, and ensure compliance with nutrition and allergen standards. Maintain and update nutritional information for Housing-Dining residential restaurants using the Jamix Food Management System. Qualifications 2-4 years of experience teaching nutrition, health, wellness courses, and program planning; demonstrated knowledge of educational, research, and public service environments. (Required) Experience teaching adult learners in higher education (Preferred) Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred) Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field. (Required) Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with students, staff, and faculty. (Required) Experience counseling students individually or in groups on diet, wellness, or lifestyle behavior change. (Required) Understanding of regulatory and compliance issues for campus dining services and health programs. (Required) Knowledge of recipe modification techniques and ability to train dining team members on their use. (Required) Knowledge of current and emerging methods in health promotion, education, behavior change, and assessment. (Required) Familiarity with diversity and inclusion in nutrition practice, especially for culturally sensitive dietary programs. (Preferred) Experience running or coordinating campus wellness programs, food services, or health campaigns. (Preferred) Experience teaching nutrition, health, or wellness courses. (Preferred) Ability to develop workshops for student and staff audiences. (Preferred) Experience in nutrition research, data collection, and analysis. (Preferred) Ability to work effectively as a team with chefs, restaurant managers, and dining team members. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor\'s Degree in Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) – Required Master\'s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related field – Preferred Current and continued maintenance of Registered Dietitian certification – Required (Annual) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory background investigation.
