Position Summary The Seattle Colleges are looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part-time in a wide range of political science courses. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment. Successful applicants may be invited to interview at one of the colleges in the Seattle Colleges District, North Seattle, Seattle Central, or South Seattle. Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background, scheduling, and available courses. Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle. The salary range for part time faculty is $7,110.33 - $10,649.33 (P1: A1- E7). Target start rate of pay for this position is $7,110.33 - $8,226.33 (for a 5-credit single-class workload per quarter). What you bring as a candidate An understanding of the goals and role of the community college. Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels in the topic of study. AA in ECE/Parent Education or related field. Skills and knowledge regarding teaching adults topics related to child development, positive guidance and discipline, parenting within cultural frameworks, and building community networks of support. Instructor must meet related ADA requirements and provide own transportation to assigned sites, which are primarily off-campus. A demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning. The ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting. Provide instruction as assigned in Parent Education to students in childcare and other community settings, online, and/or those participating in Parent Education Child Study Laboratory classes (parent cooperatives) both on campus and in community settings. Develop classes related to family life and children (range of ages can include from birth to age eighteen). Age range depends on the specific assignment. Curriculum incorporates an anti-bias framework, with inclusion and equity understanding informed teaching practices. Bilingual in multiple languages not necessary but a plus.
