The Edward King House Senior Center (EKHSC) is seeking an experienced, visionary, and compassionate Executive Director to lead one of Rhode Island's most respected senior centers into its next chapter of growth and innovation. Located in the heart of historic Newport, Rhode Island, the Edward King House has served older adults for more than six decades by providing opportunities for lifelong learning, wellness, social engagement, volunteerism, and community connection. As a nationally recognized leader in healthy aging, the Center offers more than 90 programs and services annually, serving thousands of older adults and caregivers throughout Newport County. About the Organization The Edward King House Senior Center is a nationally accredited senior center dedicated to helping older adults age with dignity, purpose, and independence. Through innovative programming, health and wellness initiatives, lifelong learning opportunities, volunteer engagement, social services, and community partnerships, the Center serves as a trusted resource for older adults throughout Newport County. The organization is financially stable, strategically positioned for future growth, and supported by an engaged Board of Directors, dedicated staff, committed volunteers, and strong community partnerships. Position Summary Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, financial stewardship, operational oversight, staff leadership, resource development, community engagement, and implementation of the organization's mission and strategic goals. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board, staff, volunteers, members, donors, municipal leaders, and community partners to ensure the continued success and long-term sustainability of the organization. The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate Visionary and collaborative leadership. Strong nonprofit management experience. Financial management and budgeting expertise. Successful fundraising and grant writing experience. Experience developing community partnerships. Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills. Experience supervising and mentoring staff. A commitment to serving older adults with dignity and respect. Strategic thinking and sound organizational judgment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Five or more years of progressively responsible nonprofit or executive leadership experience. Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant development, and financial management. Experience working with a Board of Directors. Knowledge of aging services, health and human services, or community-based programming is highly desirable. Why Join the Edward King House?
