Assistant Project Manager - Construction

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager - Construction to support the successful delivery of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. Working closely with the Project Manager, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders, you will help coordinate project activities, maintain programme and cost information, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.


Key responsibilities will include assisting with project planning, procurement, tendering and contractor coordination; monitoring progress against approved programmes, budgets and milestones; preparing reports, meeting agendas, minutes and action trackers; and maintaining accurate project documentation. You will support the review of drawings, specifications, schedules and change requests, helping to identify risks, resolve issues and escalate matters where appropriate. The role will also involve attending site visits and project meetings, liaising with consultants and contractors, tracking health and safety requirements, and assisting with handover, defects management and close-out activities.


Applicants should have experience supporting construction or property projects, ideally within a client-side, consultancy or contractor environment. A relevant qualification in construction management, project management, building surveying, civil engineering or a related discipline is desirable, although equivalent practical experience will be considered. You will need good knowledge of construction processes, project controls, procurement and contract administration, together with strong organisational and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication is essential, as is the ability to manage priorities, maintain accurate records and build effective working relationships. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management or document control systems would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be proactive, commercially aware and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes while promoting safe and professional working practices.
