About the Role
The Company is in search of an Executive Director of Development for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This senior professional will lead a comprehensive development program, generating over $35 million annually in support of the college's fundraising priorities. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering significant philanthropic investments, leading a team of advancement staff, and developing successful partnerships with individuals, foundations, and corporations. The role requires a seasoned development leader with a proven track record in higher education, the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and a collaborative, team-based approach. The Executive Director will also be involved in strategic planning, and must have a strong belief in the vision of the New American University. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, with at least 10 years of successful development experience, preferably in higher education. The role demands a clear record of management experience, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and a strong commitment to the values of the institution. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver, a team-oriented strategist, and have a documented success in securing philanthropic investments. Key skills include the ability to lead a team, work independently, and represent the institution effectively. The Executive Director will be expected to have a working knowledge of development and fundraising principles, and the ability to prepare complex proposals. A self-starter with the ability to secure personal appointments and qualify new prospects is essential.
