Process Control Engineer

Talos Automation is partnering with a leading instrumentation and systems integration company and is seeking experienced Process Controls Engineers to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of industrial automation and control projects, delivering innovative solutions across multiple sectors. Overview We are seeking aProcess Controls Engineerwith 5–7 years of hands‑on experience designing, programming, and commissioning industrial control systems. This role will primarily support our water/wastewater and general industrial process clients while offering exposure to a variety of challenging automation projects. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and commission industrial control and automation systems for process manufacturing and infrastructure projects. Create and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications to meet operational and client requirements. Develop control strategies, system architecture, and operator interfaces for automated processes. Produce and review electrical and control system documentation, including control panel layouts and system schematics. Conduct factory and site-based testing, validation, and commissioning activities. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial communication networks and remote connectivity solutions. Integrate instrumentation, control devices, and third-party equipment using industry‑standard communication protocols. Support site start‑ups, fault finding, optimisation activities, and end‑user training. Work closely with project teams, contractors, and client stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Contribute to project planning, technical reviews, risk assessments, and proposal development. Preferred Qualifications Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant industry experience will also be considered. Several years of experience delivering PLC, HMI, and SCADA projects within industrial, utilities, manufacturing, or process environments. Strong understanding of modern automation platforms, industrial control systems, and process control principles. Experience with industrial networking, including Ethernet‑based architectures, remote communications, network security, and managed network infrastructure. Ability to interpret and modify engineering documentation such as process diagrams, control schematics, loop drawings, and network architecture drawings. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, both remotely and on‑site. Full driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required. Knowledge of hazardous area design considerations and industry compliance requirements. Familiarity with industrial instrumentation, including flow, pressure, level, temperature, and analytical measurement devices. Experience with scripting, software development, or database technologies used in industrial environments. Understanding of data collection, reporting, historian systems, and industrial data management. Knowledge of industrial communication standards, system redundancy, and high‑availability architectures. Awareness of operational technology (OT) cybersecurity principles and best practices.
