Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Critical thinking skills EKG rhythm interpretation Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred Peripheral IV skills Description: Number of beds in the unit is 59. Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights. There are 3 techs available when the unit is full. Significant types of equipment utilized include bipaps, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, and wound vacs in conjunction with wound care. Documentation is managed through a specific system. Scheduling requires working every other weekend with a standard of three 12-hour shifts each week. Floating may be required between units or to medical-surgical floors. Patient experience requirements include hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights, as well as maintaining communication boards. Certifications required for this position include BLS and ACLS. The dress code mandates black scrubs. Unit guidelines and policies are established and maintained for consistency. Recognition awards and notable achievements of the department will be communicated. Unit allows self-scheduling with a four-week schedule cycle. Contract workers are expected to work every other weekend. The unit emphasizes teamwork and a supportive culture, resulting in many temporary staff opting to extend their assignments. Utilization of techs is encouraged to assist in patient care. Care is delivered with a family-like approach, fostering strong collaboration among team members.
