Histotechnician PositionPerforms histological preparations for Signatera Whole Exome/Genome SequencingPrimary Responsibilities:Perform histological preparations for the tissue whole exome sequencing laboratory with little to no errorsDuties may include but not limited to: preparation of tissues, stained slides, microdissection, and supporting workflow tasksMay independently perform testing, reagent and equipment preparation after completion of training and competency.Participates in validationsPerforms qualifications of reagentsMonitors and performs case management; ensures all cases are processed within department TAT goals and investigates sample processing issuesActively participate in EH&S initiatives such as safety auditsParticipates in updating and creating Standard Operating ProceduresMay serve as a general supervisor (Depending on education and years of experience) and perform competenciesTrains staff on department proceduresParticipates in Projects and initiatives initiated by the department/external departmentsMay serve as a general supervisor (Depending on education and years of experience) and perform competenciesExtensive knowledge in equipment and process troubleshootingDocument all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the established performance specifications as needed. Escalates protocol deviation to lead/supervisor.Provides general oversight of personnel and the daily operations in the lab. Provides guidance to new team membersEngages with external departments such as Engineering, Biodev, Stats to resolve issuesMay work with leaders of the department to streamline processesQualifications:A bachelor's, or higher, degree in a histotechnician program OR A bachelor's, or higher, degree in one of the chemical, or biological sciences, including a combination of thirty (30) hours in biology and chemistry; and, either one of the following conditions:-one year of experience and/or training in histology within the past 5 years OR-completion of a course of training of at least nine months in an histotechnician programA copy of the degree is required at time of hire; the degree must either be from the US or equivalent to a US bachelor's degree.HTL (ASCP) requiredScience - related degree preferred2+ years of related experienceEmployee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hireKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Behavioral: Evaluates factors related to human characteristics and skills, such as attitude, work approach and collaborative abilities.Communicating in a team settingExcellent interpersonal communication skills; both written and oralPositive attitude and ability to work well with othersHigh level of attention to detail with strong organizational skillsProficient with Google Suites and Microsoft OfficeThorough understanding of workflowAbility to train proficientlyCompensation & Total RewardsThis range reflects a good-faith estimate of the base pay we reasonably expect to offer at the time of hire.
