Overview The Region Manager of Program Projects leads a risk‑based, data‑driven process to manage the Region’s State Industrial Access, Local Agency Programs, Bridge, Ancillary Structures, Rockfall Mitigation, Resurfacing, Safety, and Traffic Technologies projects. The role ensures resource management, information exchange, technical guidance, and implementation of best practices to improve performance and align projects with the Department’s asset‑management lifecycle. Responsibilities Manage resources and staff utilization; assist Region Project Managers in coordination with Asset Management and Statewide Project Managers for external partner management, contract negotiation, invoicing review, scope development, task management, and consultant grading. Establish quality standards for the Project Management Section and coordinate with the Quality Team Lead to support PDN quality control tasks. Assist in developing a Consultant Acquisition Plan by leading coordination with Asset Management, serving on selection committees, supporting RFP development, attending marketing meetings, scoring criteria, and de‑briefs. Lead change management initiatives, maintaining transparency and accountability. Support Region Program Project Teams in visioning high‑complexity projects, defining goals, and coordinating RFP, schedule, budget, and quality with the Project Manager. Assist in reviewing Scopes of Work, applying design strategies, coordinating with other units to assess risks, and evaluating constructability, operations, and maintenance considerations. Guide Region Program Teams Section in providing exceptional customer service, effective communication, and accurate documentation. Stay current on revisions to design codes, standards, and guidelines; assess risk factors; coordinate with Project Teams to mitigate impacts on scope, schedule, budget, and quality. Develop and implement tracking mechanisms for PDN workflow items within schedule constraints. Ensure Region Transportation Improvement projects remain consistent, predictable, and repeatable for high achievement and risk mitigation.
