District Technology Specialist

Supervisor: Director of Instructional Technology/Network Manager Salary: Per Collective Bargaining Agreement (Category E starting $26.75 per hour), Benefits Summary/Insurance Premiums Work Year: 12 months, 260 days, 7.5 hours per day paid, scheduled 8 hours per day Location: High Point School Summary: Under general supervision, installs and maintains devices, local area networks, and wireless infrastructure, maintains equipment records, diagnoses device and network problems, maintains and repairs equipment, performs related work as required including student and business management system. This position is part of the District technology team, their home location is Century Jr High School Qualifications / Experience High school diploma/GED or a minimum of 4 years of similar experience. Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or commensurate experience, preferred. Technical certifications, A+, Network+, MCP, or equivalents, preferred Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP IP addressing, subnetting, preferred. Experience with Remote Support technologies such as Remote Desktop (Microsoft), Apple Remote Desktop, VNC. Apple Mac/iOS Repair Certified (preferred). Experience with enterprise-wide rollouts of hardware and software. Hands-on experience removing viruses and spyware using various tools. Windows and MAC hardware and software troubleshooting skills and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to do in-depth research and troubleshooting for complex technical issues. Ability to complete all work tasks with minimal supervision. Advanced customer service principles and practices. Excellent time management skills to prioritize workload. High level of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and communicate effectively under pressure. Ability to communicate and interact with both technical and non-technical users. Good technical writing skills and a willingness to document all work performed. Ability and willingness to learn new technologies. Working knowledge of wiring/testing equipment (punch tool, etc.) Experience troubleshooting product configuration, district programs and devices. Knowledge and experience in wireless communication configuration and troubleshooting. Willingness and skills necessary to determine the solution & root cause of issue. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist Device Manager in implementing district instructional technology objectives. Track and resolve customer incidents and requests through the Help Desk System (HDS) Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for iOS, MAC, PC and network devices Restore and migrate user data. Maintain network switches; configure and repair as needed. Provide support to assist other support groups such as networking, server and telecommunication teams. Execute and follow appropriate (Knowledge Base) articles. Diagnose and troubleshoot desktop system, printer and operating problems Consult and instruct users on hardware and software questions/issues. Runs diagnostic tests to isolate system problems and make recommendations for potential solutions. Create and distribute Mac, PC and iOS images. Identify, research, and resolve technical problems. Install, configure and maintain Mac, iPads, PC, network hardware and Apple TVs. Manage and troubleshoot locally or web hosted software solutions. Administer and maintain security badge system for visitors throughout the district including installing and troubleshooting software, printers, scanners, and label and student badge machines. Install, replace and repair audiovisual equipment including projectors and sound systems/intercoms. Install and terminatelow-voltage/network wiring through buildings. Support Library Management Software product. Support Time Clock system; troubleshoot and repair. Support district software programs including but not limited to Student Management and Business Management systems. Provide technical assistance to all district locations and staff including but not limited to administration, instructional and support staff employees. Perform phone system related duties including, but not limited to, DID (Direct Inward Dialing) assignment, phone programming, E-911 database and emergency location, voice mail account creation and management, and other IP/PBX (Private Branch Exchange) phone and voice mail system installation and maintenance tasks as necessary. Participate in training programs as provided by the district to keep skills current with technological developments. Create and maintain accurate records regarding but not limited to POs, device inventory and maintenance, ordering, receiving and help desk tickets. Setup and monitor the health and functionality of various systems throughout district using diagnostic software; elevate when necessary. Work extended and flexible hours as needed. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Instructional Technology and the Network Infrastructure Manager. Physical Abilities and Working Conditions of Employment Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print and use peripheral vision; see small objects at a distance of 3’; distinguish shades of color. Hearing: (which may be corrected) to hear sounds which warn of potential danger; analyze sounds of equipment operation; have tolerance to be exposed to noisy conditions. Speech: speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood in face-to-face communication. Smell: distinguish strong odors, which may warn of equipment malfunction or danger. Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; twist and bend at torso; turn, raise, and lower head Lower Body Mobility: to walk on even and uneven surfaces; bend at waist; stoop; stand for prolonged periods of 1 hours; sit for periods of 15 minutes or longer; crawl; climb stairs/ladders; step over objects; maneuver in confined spaces; ascend and descend from scissor lifts and elevated platforms. Strength: to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Environmental Requirements: be exposed to harsh chemicals; work with interruptions; work independently; work around dirt/dust; work cooperatively with others; work performed at considerable heights above the ground, including from scissor lifts and other elevated platforms; work in confined or enclosed spaces that may require awkward positions and limited movement. Mental Requirements: to read and write English at a level necessary for job success; math skills at a high school level; exercise good judgement in decision-making; learn quickly and follow verbal and written procedures and standards.
