District Manager

Newark, DE Your role in our success This job contributes to Sharp Energy’s success by leading district operations within an assigned service area to create and maintain the Sharp Energy experience for our customers and partners. The district manager is required to regularly and customarily exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the district within the assigned service area. In particular, a majority of time is spent developing district staff and management talent, overseeing the district’s management workforce, making management, staffing and operating decisions, ensuring district-wide customer satisfaction and service quality, managing each aspect of the district's financial performance, and managing safety and security within the district. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing a sales force and district operations, controlling expenses, employee compensation and payroll budgets, handling personnel issues, accounting, customer accounting and fuel inventory. Responsibilities Supervisory: Directly supervises all employees in the district and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Develops the district staff and management team to deliver legendary customer experiences. Drives the implementation of company programs by motivating and supporting staff and management team to develop and implement action plans that meet operational and organizational objectives. Manages through unusual events to keep the district operating to standard. Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Sharp Energy. Plans, identifies, communicates and delegates key responsibilities and practices to ensure smooth flow of operations within the district. Reviews district environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement, and provides coaching to achieve operational goals. Planning and Execution Creates district implementation plans to support execution of regional and company initiatives to achieve operational excellence and business results, and follows up consistently to ensure accountability. Monitors and manages district-wide staffing and compensation levels, ensuring management-level partner development and talent acquisition. Utilizes existing tools to identify and prioritize communications, and filters communications to staff and management. Communicates clearly, concisely and accurately to ensure effective operations at the district level. Supervises all district employees, including but not limited to, the Service Manager, Delivery Manager, Customer Service Manager and Sales Representatives. Financial Management Prepares, reviews and monitors district capital budgets and monitors monthly operating expenses and sales volumes. Prepares projected capital expenditure requirements and monitors all aspects of financial performance. Performs ongoing operational analysis via data reporting. Monitors and reviews various reports, including overtime summary, run‑out summary, loss‑customer reports, customer gain reports, tank inventory, liquid inventory, delivery efficiency, management, appliance inventory. Participates in customer retention and new customer programs, prepares bid quotations, monitors retail propane pricing and rates, and monitors customer gain and loss. Ensures quality customer service by monitoring personnel’s skills, recommending improvement and dealing with difficult customers using superior service skills. Ensures compliance with safety regulations, conducts monthly safety meetings, reviews and approves incident investigation reports. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Three to five years of relevant experience in operations management. Working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook), P&L and financial acumen. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Strong leadership, supervisory and conflict resolution skills. Ability to speak and act professionally before groups of customers or employees. Ability to liaise with internal and external customers effectively. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
