Position Overview:

This is a full-time role with day shifts, comprising two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts. Weekend duties will be required every third weekend.

Position Summary:

The role involves assessing and providing care for patients requiring respiratory therapy, as well as administering prescribed therapeutic services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate type and frequency of treatment, creating a care plan based on their diagnosis.
• Deliver respiratory care services in line with physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
• Implement and oversee the patient care plan and associated equipment, while monitoring and documenting patient conditions.
• Assess respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatment effectiveness based on patient outcomes.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and available community support resources.
• Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all respiratory equipment, while helping to manage departmental inventory levels.
• Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
• Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands:

• Regular verbal communication is required.
• Frequent standing and walking are necessary.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
• Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
• Frequent visual acuity for both near and far distances, as well as color differentiation.
• Regular use of smell to identify odors.
• Frequent auditory skills to receive verbal communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements.
• Rarely involves crawling or running.

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

For Missouri:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Respiratory Care Practitioner - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Or Respiratory Educ Permit - Missouri Division of Professional Registration

For Oklahoma:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
