Principal Clinical Development Engineer

Principal Clinical Development Engineer leads translational research and clinical development projects for advanced surgical products, collaborating with clinicians and product teams to establish foundational knowledge that drives new product innovation within the cardiac surgery business unit.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead research projects contributing to new product development or existing product improvements
• Specify devices, materials, and design features to implement novel concepts and technologies
• Collaborate with surgeons and key opinion leaders to identify clinical needs and translate requirements into user-centric product design
• Support clinical risk documentation, preclinical testing strategy, and regulatory submissions
• Drive complex cross-functional projects by influencing strategic decisions and mentoring team members

Requirements

• 15+ years medical device industry experience with Bachelor's degree, or equivalent advanced degree/experience combination
• Operating room experience and fluency in surgical terminology, anatomy, and techniques
• Preclinical laboratory experience designing and executing clinical or preclinical evaluations
• Strong communication skills conveying complex ideas to clinical and technical audiences
• Expert knowledge of da Vinci Surgical Systems and surgical applications
• Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
