An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a thriving 9th-grade student on a contract basis. This role covers in-person interpreting services on Fridays, ensuring the student is fully included in academic and extracurricular activities throughout the school year.

Key Qualifications:

• Active and valid licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Previous experience working within educational settings, preferably at the secondary level
• Proficiency with school communication devices, including Assistive Listening Devices (ALD)
• Ability to facilitate communication and participation for students who use cochlear implants
• Strong interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Provide in-person interpretation for a 9th-grade student who is succeeding academically and socially in high school
• Support the student during classes, especially in challenging subjects such as Algebra I
• Facilitate inclusion for extracurricular activities, such as participation in school plays
• Encourage communication among peers and staff to foster a supportive learning environment
• Coordinate with teachers who utilize technology for communication, ensuring equitable access
• Contribute to the student’s ongoing academic and social progress

This contract role requires availability for 6.5 hours each Friday, working onsite for the duration of the school year through May 27, 2027. You will play a vital part in fostering academic growth and social inclusion for an engaged, motivated student.
