Field Equipment Technician

Position Summary We are looking for a full‑time Forklift Field Service Technician / Mechanic for our Bow, NH branch. This position is first shift, Monday through Friday, and is paid hourly. Field technicians are provided a company service van, which is kept at home each day, and a fuel card. Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment. Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Provide exceptional customer service. Work and manage workloads independently. Complete and submit all required paperwork accurately. Maintain company vehicle and onboard parts inventory. Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance, arriving ready for work at the designated start time. Qualifications Two years of forklift repair experience is highly desired, including Military, Guard, or Reserve service with an MOS or NEC code of 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M, or CM. Previous field experience is highly preferable. Strong working knowledge of electric and liquid propane units. Excellent mechanical aptitude. Possesses own tools. Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license to operate the company vehicle. Proficiency in computer programs is highly desired – HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, and Yale/Hyster contact management system. Intermediate language skills: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Basic mathematical skills: ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds, using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance. Intermediate reasoning ability: applying common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; handling problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands; frequently talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. No special vision requirements. Regularly lift up to 10 pounds; frequently lift 11 to 25 pounds; occasionally lift 26 to 100+ pounds. Regularly work near moving mechanical parts; frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions; occasionally work in wet or humid conditions (non‑weather), extreme cold and heat (non‑weather), risk of electrical shock, vibration.
