Associate Buyer

Our Associate Buyer is responsible for assisting the Buyer in the procurement of merchandise for a particular segment of the business, achieving sales and profit objectives. Works in close partnership with the Buyer on the merchandise direction in brand acquisitions and delivers compelling fashion right assortments to our consumers. Must be strategic and confident enough to work and build lasting relationships with key principals from all major companies in the industry. Expected to leverage skills and experience to take a leadership role on the team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serves as a FlourishC21 ambassador by embracing and demonstrating Century 21’s Higher Purpose of “Delivering Value to Live Better” and Core Values. Drive revenue by procuring the best brands and the most compelling product assortments, at the sharpest prices. Assists in buying responsibilities once Buyer determines proficiency. Ensures timely delivery of merchandise through consistent communication and follow‑up with vendors and distribution center. Manages and projects markdowns. Manipulates spreadsheets and reports to complete thorough business analysis. Analyzes sales performance and makes recommendations to maximize sales. Analyzes business performance weekly and works in conjunction with buyer to take appropriate business actions. Demonstrates a passion to be fashion forward and fashion‑right, unafraid to take risks. Communicates through effective and appropriate channels, to store management and team members, in order to fully maintain merchandise direction and standards. Communicates regularly with vendor and merchant community to achieve department goals. Must maintain and manage portion of the business on his/ her own. Accountable for financial outcome of specific area. Well versed in trend orientation and competitive market research. Participates in the development and training of Assistant Buyer. Understands target customer by store. Understands competitor’s strengths, weaknesses and strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS

Consistently demonstrate a commitment to C21’s Core Values and Higher Purpose Delivering Value to Live Better. 3-5 years supporting the business as an Assistant Buyer Highly organized and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities in a fast‑paced off price environment. Strategic thinker, have vision by being aware of surroundings, absorb new ideas, new ways and flexible enough to drive new direction by thinking long term. Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning and open to buy. Ability to work well with all levels of management, build partnerships and direct teams. Strong attention to detail, negotiation, business and financial analysis skills. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

COMPENSATION

$80,000-$90,000/Annual Competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
