Location: New York or New Jersey
Full time / Contract to hire
This role focuses on building and enforcing a data governance framework to ensure data quality, compliance, and effective management across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement data governance policies and standards.
- Develop data classification, ownership, and lifecycle management processes.
- Drive data quality management and compliance with regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).
- Manage metadata, data catalogs, lineage, and documentation.
- Lead governance forums and partner with security and technology teams.
- Foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability.
- Oversee governance tools and ensure consistent data management practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in data governance or management (leadership experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience with data cataloging, quality, and governance tools.
- Insurance industry experience a plus.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications such as CDMP or DM-BOK preferred.
