Premium Staff AccountantBuilt on meritocracy, our unique company culture rewards self-starters and those who are committed to doing what is best for our customers.Brown & Brown is seeking Premium Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Tampa, FL!The Premium Staff Accountant role is responsible for supporting the Team Leader/Senior in execution of all transactions related to Premium Accounting within NP East. The role will be responsible for managing and reconciling insurance premium transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth cash flow. This role serves as the link between policy administration, billing, and finance teams. The role will be required to research inquiries and meet processing deadlines with accuracy and timeliness.How You Will Contribute:Record and reconcile premiums payments, broker commission, state taxes, and credit refundsApply payments accurately to customer or broker accounts and investigate discrepanciesMaintain and reconcile accounts receivable (A/R), including suspense accounts and aging reportsCommunicate with agents, brokers, and internal teams to resolve premium differences or billing issuesEnsure transactions follow company policies, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines; assist with month-end closeResearch and correct misapplied premiums, payment variances, and billing errorsUtilize Excel and financial systems to analyze data and support reconciliation and reporting activitiesPerform required general ledger account maintenanceMaintain clear records, process documentation, and workflow updatesOther duties as assignedSkills & Experience to be Successful:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 - 3 years of related experience and/or trainingStrong analytical skills, with accuracy and attention to detail;Excellent communication and organizational skills;Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).Ability to multi-task and prioritize a diverse portfolio of tasks while still consistently meeting deadlines;Ability to communicate with different levels within an organization.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.Experience with Agency Management systems (preferred)Insurance Background (preferred)Teammate Benefits & Total Well-BeingWe go beyond standard benefits, focusing on the total well-being of our teammates, including:Health Benefits: Medical/Rx, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability InsuranceFinancial Benefits: ESPP; 401k; Student Loan Assistance; Tuition ReimbursementMental Health & Wellness: Free Mental Health & Enhanced Advocacy ServicesBeyond Benefits: Paid Time Off, Holidays, Preferred Partner Discounts and more.Not reflective of all benefits.
