About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: 7 East - SD Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hours - Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years in acute care License: LA License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: - Experience with titratable gtts: Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (request manager approval to offer without this experience) - Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, ISTAT, CSF (lumbar) drains (preferred) - Successful completion of an EKG competency exam prior to arrival Description: Registered Nurses will care for patients with conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, and ARF. The unit also handles stroke overflow patients, including CVA/TIA requiring TPA administration, along with spinal surgical patients recovering from procedures such as ACDF and laminectomy. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3. CNA support is available with a ratio of 1:7. The unit has centralized telemonitoring and on-site resources, including a charge nurse who may have patient assignments, phlebotomy services, an IV/VAT team available during the day shift, and a hospitalist present. Communication will be through an electronic medical record system. The nurse will be required to float to other units, including Stroke and MedSurg, with a potential ratio of 1:5-6. Scheduling will involve a weekend rotation every other week and a 5/2 work schedule. Time off requests are limited to 7 days and must extend 1 week for every full week requested. Holidays will be scheduled, with expectations to work 2 out of 3 holidays. Uniforms require specific colors and the wearing of badges at all times in a visible manner.
