Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM Experience: Less than 1 year of experience with direct patient care preferred License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak the English language Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills along with customer service skills required Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner Possess excellent time management skills Practices nursing using evidence and analytical skills along with strong critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care providers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The role includes practicing in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. Support is provided through a governance model focused on professional practice and evidence-based practice. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant professional acts. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN is responsible for performing the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They provide relationship-based patient-centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics. The RN collaborates with patients and significant others to keep them informed and make their goals the focus of the care plan. Current clinical practice standards inform their practice. Teamwork and Collaboration: The RN coordinates safe quality patient care delivery and documentation. They participate in interdisciplinary communication methods and completion of timely documentation. Demonstrating teamwork and collaboration, the RN practices in a financially responsible manner and promotes a healthy work environment. Professional Development and Initiative: The RN completes all professional competency assessments and mandatory education. They serve as a preceptor and mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and promote a healthy work environment. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The RN promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. They participate in the decision-making process in evaluating patient care products. Resources and Support: The RN proactively plans for the care of patients throughout the care continuum. They help develop protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other team members. Efficiency and effective use of resources are supported in all initiatives. The RN complies with all policies, standards of work, and the code of conduct established for their role. They perform other duties as assigned.
