HVAC MechanicReports To: Maintenance Supervisor/Plant Operations DirectorDepartment: Plant OperationsPrimary Purpose: Responsible for maintenance, repair, fabrication, controls and installation of heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration for Lee County School System. Provide support to plant operations department and mechanics.Qualifications:Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GEDValid Georgia Driver's LicenseMaintain appropriate driving record for insurabilityMust maintain EPA Section 608 CertificationSkills/Special Knowledge:Demonstrate aptitude for successfully performing tasks assignedDemonstrate ability to work and to get along with peopleGeneral Maintenance SkillsHVAC systems and control skillsKnowledge of refrigeration systemsResponsibilities and Duties:Assist in all areas of maintenancePerform and assist co-workers with task associated with maintenance of facilitiesClimb and work from ladder or elevated platformsMaintain work vehicle and tools in clean and good working orderMaintain accurate record of daily activitiesClean-up work area after work completedBe prompt, timely and thorough in completing assigned taskMeets attendance standards and complies with departmental rulesCommunicates with school staff and departmental staffMaintains confidentiality in the conduct of district businessComplies with district policies as well as local, state and federal rules and regulationsSafety:Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipmentOperates tools and equipment according to established safety proceduresEnsures that equipment is in safe operating conditionFollows established safety procedures and techniques to perform dutiesCorrect unsafe conditions in work area and report any condition that is not correctable to supervisorOther Duties:Performs other assigned duties to support other areas of department during absences or staff shortagesRequires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff are required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Plant Operations Department and Lee County Board of Education
