Manufacturing Associate – Assembly & Quality

This position is responsible for assembling small components and finished products according to established work instructions, quality standards, and production requirements. This position performs visual and basic quality inspections throughout the assembly process, identifies defects or nonconforming product, and accurately packages completed products for shipment or further processing.

The Manufacturing Associate is expected to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while meeting established standards for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assembly

• Assemble small parts and components according to established work instructions, drawings, samples, specifications, and/or standard operating procedures.
• Properly operate basic hand tools, fixtures, equipment, and other devices used in the assembly process.
• Follow established assembly sequences and procedures to ensure consistent product quality.
• Verify that the correct components, materials, and quantities are being used.
• Maintain an efficient and organized workstation.
• Notify the supervisor of missing materials, equipment problems, or issues that may affect production.

Quality Inspection

• Perform visual and basic dimensional inspections of parts and completed assemblies.
• Inspect products for defects, damage, incorrect assembly, contamination, appearance issues, or other conditions that do not meet specifications.
• Compare completed products against approved samples, work instructions, specifications, or inspection criteria.
• Separate and properly identify defective or questionable material.
• Immediately communicate quality concerns to the supervisor or appropriate quality personnel.
• Complete required inspection documentation accurately.
• Maintain responsibility for quality throughout the assembly process rather than relying solely on final inspection.

Packaging

• Package completed products according to established packaging instructions and customer requirements.
• Verify correct quantities, labels, packaging materials, and product identification.
• Inspect finished product before packaging.
• Properly label boxes, containers, bags, or other packaging.
• Maintain packaging materials and notify the supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
• Ensure finished product is protected from damage during handling, storage, and shipment.

Production & Documentation

• Meet established production and quality standards.
• Follow production schedules and work priorities established by supervision.
• Accurately complete production, quality, inspection, and other required documentation.
• Follow standard work and participate in efforts to improve processes, quality, safety, and productivity.
• Assist with other production tasks as assigned.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.

Safety & 5S

• Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and policies.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, near misses, equipment concerns, or other safety issues.
• Keep the work area clean, orderly, and free of unnecessary materials.
• Follow established 5S practices, including Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
• Properly handle materials, tools, equipment, and products.
• Follow all applicable machine, ergonomic, lifting, chemical, and workplace safety requirements.

Quality Expectations

The Manufacturing Associate is responsible for producing and packaging product that meets established company and customer requirements.

Preferred

• Previous manufacturing, production, assembly, inspection, or packaging experience.
• Experience working with small components.
• Experience using basic hand tools or production equipment.
• Experience with quality inspection or manufacturing documentation.
• Previous experience in a Lean Manufacturing or 5S environment.

• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and finished products within established company guidelines.
• Visually inspect small parts and finished assemblies.
• Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to normal production noise, temperature variations, and manufacturing equipment.

Work Environment

The Manufacturing Associate works primarily in a manufacturing/production environment.

The position may involve exposure to:

• Manufacturing equipment and machinery
• Production noise
• Dust or airborne materials associated with the manufacturing process
• Varying temperatures
• Repetitive production activities
• Hand tools and assembly equipment

Required PPE and safety equipment must be worn as specified by company policy and the requirements of the assigned work area.
