Estimator II

Job Summary Controls Estimator II based in Lenexa, KS. Provide cost estimates for HVAC controls projects, work with building owners, and support Account Managers in bidding activities. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, purchased equipment and subcontractors. Develop detailed scope based on design‑build documents, plans and specifications. Create system sketches, scope definitions, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposals, vendor/sub‑contractor quotes and points lists for estimates. Conduct take‑off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accurate quantities, sizes, configurations, voltage and options. Attend pre‑bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope, strategy and other details. Identify potential cost‑saving opportunities and risk items that may arise on projects. Negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing through quotations to optimize job costs. Assist with decisions on outsourced engineering needs and coordinate with Operations / Fulfillment to control cost variations in labor, material and electrical subcontract. Participate in pre‑bid validation and post‑mortem reviews to monitor and improve cost controls. Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 3‑5 years of estimating, engineering or construction management experience, OR 5‑7 years of controls field experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience with Building Automation, HVAC Controls and HVAC Systems. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing construction systems. Strong financial and business acumen, with a track record of delivering projects on time and on budget. Excellent prioritization skills to meet tight deadlines in a high‑paced environment. Experience working directly with building owners is a plus. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required. Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months with no major traffic violations. Salary Annual base salary range: $72,611.66 - $101,394.99. Compensation is a salary; no sales commission or incentive.
