Pharmacy Technician

This position is on-call or as needed. Ability to work 7:00a-3:30p and 10:30a-7:00p Monday-Friday, or 9:00a-3:00p Saturday & Sunday

Key Functions

Administrative

1. Answer the telephone, provide information to callers when appropriate, and record messages accurately; refer questions to a pharmacist when necessary.
2. Prepare controlled drug records for the units, verify accurately when adding or removing narcotics, and file control substance records
3. Maintain inventory orderly with in-date medications and clean shelves in the pharmacy

Operations

1. Fill medication orders including cart fill; return excess medication to stock; verify the accuracy of the orders with the registered pharmacist.
1. Re-package medication into unit dosage quantities and have them available.
1. Properly storing and recording transactions of patients own medications that are stored in the pharmacy
2. Ordering and receiving medications from the supplier, based on need and appropriate par levels.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned, to include participation on selected task forces and committees as deemed appropriate by the Director of Pharmacy.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Pharmacy Technician Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy technician school

License/Certification Required: Pharmacy Technician Board Certification

Experience Required: One year of technician experience in retail or hospital
