Description: This Emergency Room unit has a total of 12 beds. Two of these beds can be utilized as trauma bays. Patients are brought back and triaged in the same room. The unit averages approximately 20 patients per day. Staffing ratios are generally 1 RN to 6 patients, depending on acuity. All staff members work collaboratively as a team. During each shift, there are typically 2 RNs. There is no on-site security; staff must call for assistance when necessary. The unit's common diagnoses include geriatric patients, pediatrics, pneumonia, CHF, and COPD. ED physicians are present for each shift. Nurse Aids, Paramedics, and Patient Sitters support the team. RNs are responsible for reading strips, as there are no monitor techs. All labs are drawn by the RNs. There are no floating requirements out of the Emergency Room. The dress code allows for any color or prints. A single day of orientation is provided with a preceptor. Emergency Room staff should be prepared for fast-paced scenarios. Portable chest radiology is available, and radiology services are located nearby. The charting system used in this unit is TruBridge - Evident. This role does not involve self-scheduling; supervisors coordinate schedules based on unit needs. Weekend and holiday requirements include working every other weekend and every other holiday. There is no call or standby requirement for this position.
