Bookkeeper

Bookkeeper Bishop & Company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of a well-respected nonprofit organization in Honolulu. No relocation. In-state applicants only. Must be available to interview immediately. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable: Process and verify invoices, prepare disbursements, secure approvals, and ensure accurate coding and recording of all AP transactions. Accounts Receivable: Record and reconcile incoming payments—donations, program fees, retail sales, and other revenue and coordinate with departments to ensure proper coding and documentation. Manage all banking activities, including updating authorized signers, processing deposits, uploading ACH batches, and maintaining the bank account database. Record and reconcile daily receipts such as payments, donations, program fees, and retail transactions, ensuring proper coding and accuracy. Process vendor payments by verifying invoices, preparing disbursements, and ensuring appropriate authorization. Complete monthly General Excise Tax (GET) and annual sales tax filings accurately and on time. Maintain and update accounting ledgers using MIP Fund Accounting software. Reconcile credit card transactions and statements, resolving discrepancies as needed. Support year-end audit and tax preparation, ensuring all financial records are properly maintained and filed digitally. Perform other related accounting and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience; nonprofit experience highly preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Salary range for this position is typically $54-60K annually.
