For more information, visit us at Job Description 26North is seeking an Assistant Controller to play a critical role in supporting the growth of our insurance and reinsurance businesses. The platform has two reinsurance companies in Bermuda with approximately $10 billion in assets with two cedants, two credit facilities, two co-investment entities, and a holding company. The platform has significant commitments from third party investors to drive expansion of the balance sheet. As an Assistant Controller, you will have responsibility for a broad range of activities including building a control-based infrastructure for the consolidated accounting and reporting of our reinsurance business under STAT/GAAP/EBS methodologies. The role will be responsible for forecasting the business and comparing actual results to the forecast for consumption by key stakeholders including the founder of 26North and the board. The role will also be responsible for managing the Bermuda-based management team and overseeing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the companies. The ideal candidate brings a strong alternatives accounting and insurance foundation, thrives in a high-growth environment, and is excited to take ownership of critical deliverables while continuously improving processes and infrastructure. Responsibilities Design and implement financial and operational best practices to support the growth and evolution of the platform Build and oversee the accounting function including internal and outsourced providers Research and design strategies and systems to improve efficiency as it pertains to accounting and financial reporting Oversee the preparation of the quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, marketing letters, performance reporting, capital calls, distribution notices, settlement reports Perform management fee calculations, expense accruals, budgeting, and forecasting Collaborate with investment professional, legal and compliance, business development, and operations to ensure proper controls are in place to support current and future business Qualifications 5-12+ years of experience in a related function (insurance accountant, consultant, financial advisor) Experience with STAT/GAAP/EBS preferred Investment Accounting and/or financial planning experience preferred CPA preferred Experience in collaborating with executive leadership and third-party partners to drive operational performance and shape a culture that is focuses on continuous improvement Ability to work and think independently under time constraints High commitment and strong self-motivation with an entrepreneurial spirit Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables Strong track record and demonstrated commitment to upholding our core values of excellence, teamwork, stewardship, integrity, and respect 26North offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus based on performance as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
