Physiatrist (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician)

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System is seeking a highly qualified Physiatrist (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician) to join the Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) Service Line.

This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitative care to Veterans across inpatient and outpatient settings. The physician will provide inpatient physiatry consultation services and lead clinical care within the TBI/Polytrauma Program, supporting a complex and medically diverse Veteran population.

The position reports directly to the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Geriatrics and Extended Care.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

The below is a list of duties to be performed by Physiatrist but are not limited to the following:

• Provide inpatient rehabilitation consultations for Veterans admitted to acute care and Community Living Center settings
• Evaluate and manage patients with functional impairments, mobility limitations, and complex rehabilitation needs
• Serve as Medical Director for the TBI/Polytrauma Program, including:
• Clinical oversight and program leadership for Veterans with traumatic brain injury and polytrauma
• Evaluation and management of complex TBI sequelae, including cognitive, physical, and behavioral rehabilitation needs
• Coordination with interdisciplinary polytrauma teams (neurology, neuropsychology, therapy, nursing, and social work)
• Develop individualized rehabilitation plans to improve functional outcomes and quality of life
• Collaborate closely with GEC, hospitalists, surgeons, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program development within GEC

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, no on call required
