Yes Hours of Work 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM M-F Official TSU Title Director of Recruitment Grant Title N/A Texas Southern University ( TSU ) invites applications for the position of Director of Recruitment within the Division of Enrollment Management. The Director of Recruitment is a strategic leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and managing TSU’s comprehensive student recruitment program. This position provides end-to-end ownership of the University’s enrollment recruitment strategy — from prospective-student identification through enrollment deposit — and serves as the Division’s primary architect of territory management, lead-funnel conversion, dual-credit pipeline development, and transfer-student recruitment. The Director directly supervises the Admission Counselors and is responsible for their day-to-day direction, professional development, and performance. The Director of Recruitment reports to the Executive Director of Admissions and works in close partnership with the Enrollment Management Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure recruitment strategies and outreach communications are fully aligned. For transfer student recruitment, the Director collaborates directly with the Transfer Center to develop and coordinate outreach strategies, build community college relationships, and support prospective transfer students through the enrollment process. This position plays a direct role in TSU’s ability to grow enrollment, improve yield, and build the transfer pipeline that Texas’s performance-based funding framework is specifically designed to incentivize. The Director of Recruitment is a key member of the Division’s leadership team and is expected to represent TSU with professionalism and distinction in all internal and external settings. Recruitment Strategy and Planning Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate TSU’s comprehensive enrollment recruitment strategy, including annual recruitment plans, territory assignments, yield targets, and conversion benchmarks aligned with the University’s enrollment goals. Design and manage a territory–based recruitment model covering high schools, community colleges, dual–credit partners, and feeder institutions across the Houston metropolitan area and key Texas markets. Establish and track annual recruitment goals by student type (first–time freshmen, transfer, dual–credit, adult learner), geography, academic program, and demographic segment. Analyze enrollment trends, market data, and competitor positioning to identify opportunities and inform strategic recruitment decisions; prepare and present recruitment performance reports to the Executive Director of Admissions on a regular basis. Collaborate with academic deans, department chairs, and faculty to develop program–specific recruitment strategies that align with TSU’s academic mission and enrollment priorities. Prospective Student Outreach and Yield Conversion Lead and coordinate all prospective student outreach activities, including high school visits, college fairs, community events, campus preview days, open houses, and virtual recruitment programs. Manage the prospective–student communication funnel from initial inquiry through enrollment deposit, in direct coordination with the Enrollment Management Marketing and Communications Manager, to ensure a seamless, compelling, and data–driven communication cadence. Develop and implement targeted yield strategies to convert admitted students into enrolled students, with particular attention to Pell–eligible, first–generation, and underrepresented student populations. Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, community college advisors, community–based organizations, and other partners who serve prospective TSU students in assigned markets. Represent TSU at recruitment events, college fairs, and community programs with professionalism and a deep knowledge of TSU’s academic programs, financial aid opportunities, student life, and outcomes. Transfer and Dual-Credit Recruitment Develop and implement a coordinated transfer recruitment strategy in alignment with Texas’s community college performance-based funding incentives, which reward transfer completions and create mutual alignment between TSU and its community college partners. Collaborate closely with the TSU Transfer Center to align recruitment outreach with transfer advising services, ensuring prospective transfer students receive a seamless experience from initial contact through enrollment; serve as the recruitment liaison to the Transfer Center on all transfer pipeline and partnership activities. Build and maintain relationships with community college advising offices, transfer centers, and dual–credit program coordinators at San Jacinto College, Houston Community College, Lone Star College, and other key feeder institutions, in coordination with the Transfer Center. Participate in transfer fairs, community college campus events, and transfer–focused programming to represent TSU and build awareness of transfer pathways, articulation agreements, and financial aid opportunities. Develop and manage TSU’s dual–credit recruitment pipeline in partnership with Houston–area school districts, ensuring prospective dual-credit students and their families have a clear pathway from dual enrollment to full enrollment at TSU . Track and report transfer and dual-credit recruitment metrics, including pipeline progress and conversion rates, to the Executive Director of Admissions. Data, Analytics, and Technology Partner with the Enrollment Management Data Analyst to develop, maintain, and utilize recruitment dashboards, funnel reports, and conversion analytics that support data‑driven strategy and resource allocation. Manage and optimize the use of TSU’s Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) system for prospective student communication, lead tracking, event management, and funnel reporting; ensure all recruitment staff are trained and consistently using the CRM . Use enrollment and market data to evaluate return on investment of recruitment activities by territory, event type, and student segment; recommend and implement adjustments to the recruitment strategy based on data findings. Prepare and present regular recruitment reports, funnel analyses, and yield projections to the Executive Director of Admissions to support enrollment forecasting and budget planning. Staff Leadership and Development Directly supervise the Admission Counselors; provide day‑to‑day direction, ongoing coaching, professional development, performance management, and accountability to ensure a high‑performing, student‑centered recruitment team. Assign and manage territory coverage, recruitment travel schedules, and event responsibilities across the Admission Counselor team to ensure comprehensive market coverage and equitable workload distribution. Conduct regular one‑on‑one supervision meetings, team meetings, and formal performance evaluations for all Admission Counselors; set clear performance expectations and goals aligned with Division recruitment targets. Foster a team culture within the Office of Admissions built on collaboration, accountability, student‑centered service, and continuous improvement. Identify and facilitate professional development opportunities for Admission Counselors, including training on enrollment management best practices, CRM utilization, diversity‑focused recruitment strategies, and territory management. Assist the Executive Director of Admissions in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new Admission Counselors as needed. Collaboration and Institutional Engagement Work closely with the Enrollment Management Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure recruitment messaging, campaigns, and communication touchpoints are aligned with the Division’s brand strategy and enrollment targets. Serve as the primary recruitment liaison to the TSU Transfer Center, maintaining regular communication on transfer student pipelines, community college partnership activity, and shared enrollment goals. Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure prospective students receive timely, accurate financial aid information and that financial aid packaging is integrated into the yield strategy. Partner with Academic Affairs and student support offices to ensure recruitment messaging accurately reflects TSU’s academic programs, support services, and student outcomes. Participate in Division and university‑wide planning processes, committees, and events as assigned by the Executive Director of Admissions. Represent the Division of Enrollment Management at system‑level meetings, professional association conferences, and other external venues as assigned. Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
