Job Description
Title
Registered Nurse - Neuroscience

Schedule
Shift: 12-hour days
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required

Assignment Details
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Ratios: 1:6
Daily census: ~50
Beds: 55 (includes transfer center)
Orientation: 36 hours

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years total nursing experience with at least 1 year in Med/Surg
- Travel experience: At least 2 prior successful travel contracts
- Required Certifications: BCLS, NIH / NIHSS
- Preferred Certification: ACLS (not required)
- Core clinical skills:
- IV starts
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Med/Surg neuro experience (stroke/neuro stepdown care)
- Experience with seizure disorders and post-neurosurgical patients preferred
- Charting system: Epic

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide patient care for stroke-focused neuroscience patients and neuro/NSurg diagnoses
- Monitor patients for telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, PT, Respiratory, and Social Work
- Administer medications and perform required treatments according to established protocols

Compliance / Notes
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Candidate testing/lab required within 48 hours after signing; all testing must be completed within 48 hours
- License: NC or Compact pending acceptable for submittal
- Former employees must wait 12 months before applying (disclosure and facility approval required)
- Non-billable modules may be required (2-10 hrs)
