Technical Designer – Infant & Layette Salary: $80,000–$100,000 annually Location: Lakewood, NJ

Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Children’s apparel About the Role We are seeking an experienced Technical Designer specializing in Infant and Layette apparel to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of fit, garment construction, grading, and technical development. The Technical Designer will work closely with our design team and overseas manufacturing partners to ensure each garment meets our standards for fit, quality, and production accuracy. Key Responsibilities Develop block specifications based on established size ranges. Partner with designers throughout the sample development process to achieve the intended fit and aesthetic. Prepare detailed specifications for all stages of development, including first fit, second fit, PP, and shipping samples. Independently coordinate and lead fit sessions. Communicate fit comments, corrections, and technical revisions clearly to overseas patternmakers. Develop grading for costing and pricing purposes. Create bulk grading for production. Maintain accuracy and consistency across technical packages and production specifications. Collaborate with design and production teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure timely execution. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Technical Designer specializing in Infant and Layette apparel. Strong knowledge of infant garment construction, fit, grading, and technical specifications. Experience working with overseas factories and patternmakers. Ability to independently manage fit sessions and communicate technical corrections. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
