Job Description: Skilled Remodeler

Pay: $22–$30 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability
Location: Atglen, Pennsylvania
Service Area: Lancaster County, Chester County, and surrounding regions
Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 45–55 hours per week

Position Overview

The Skilled Remodeler works alongside the crew leader and other team members to complete residential remodeling projects safely, efficiently, and to company standards.

During the initial training period, the employee learns MPS procedures, develops remodeling skills, and demonstrates the ability to execute assigned objectives. As the employee consistently delivers quality work, communicates effectively, and earns the crew leader's trust, greater independence and responsibility will follow.

We understand that everyone learns at a different pace. Advancement is based on demonstrated ability and earned trust, not simply the amount of time someone has been employed.

Key Responsibilities

Remodeling and Construction

• Perform interior demolition and prepare job sites for renovation.
• Assist with rough framing and general carpentry.
• Complete interior trim, finish carpentry, and related finishing work.
• Assist with basic plumbing and electrical tasks within the employee's training and authorization.
• Handle materials, prepare job sites, and load and unload company trucks.
• Follow plans, measurements, and direction from the crew leader.
• Use tools and equipment safely and properly.
• Protect customer property, finished surfaces, and existing building components.

Job-Site Organization and Quality

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe throughout the day.
• Maintain tools and equipment and report damage or missing materials.
• Identify unfinished details, missing supplies, and potential problems.
• Complete work properly without cutting corners to save time.
• Look beyond the immediate task to identify details that can be completed while tools and materials are already available.

Finish the job, not just the task. Before moving on, look around the work area for overlooked details that can be completed now rather than requiring additional time later. We value employees who think ahead, take initiative, and help the entire project run efficiently.

Accountability, Teamwork, and Reliability

Punctuality is non-negotiable. Employees must arrive at the shop in Atglen by 6:30 AM to load trucks, gather materials, and prepare for the day. When one person is late, the entire crew is affected. Dependability and respect for teammates' time are essential to earning trust.

We expect every employee to:

• Follow directions and consistently execute agreed-upon objectives.
• Take ownership of responsibilities and communicate problems promptly.
• Work well with the crew leader and other team members.
• Solve routine problems independently and seek guidance when facing complex issues.
• Ask questions when unsure rather than guess and risk costly rework.
• Take responsibility for mistakes instead of hiding them or blaming others.
• Maintain quality standards, protect customer property, and follow safety procedures.

Mistakes and Problem-Solving

Mistakes are inevitable, especially when learning. Making a mistake is not the problem; hiding it, blaming others, or failing to take responsibility is.

We expect employees to communicate honestly, own their mistakes, and help find solutions. Employees should use good judgment when resolving routine problems independently. As a general guideline, seek guidance from the crew leader when a problem is complex, involves safety, or could create significant additional costs. Decisions that could cost the company more than $100 deserve particular care.

The goal is to solve problems efficiently, protect company profitability, and keep projects moving forward.

Team Culture and Phone Use

We believe strong teams should be able to laugh, enjoy working together, and have serious conversations when necessary. We value trust, open communication, mutual respect, and accountability.

Important phone calls may be taken when needed, but nonessential texts and social media should wait until breaks. Earbuds are permitted when they do not compromise safety, communication, or awareness of surroundings. Personal notifications, including text messages and social media alerts, must be turned off during work.

Training and Advancement

The first six months are intended as a general training period working alongside the crew leader and team. Learning speed varies, so advancement is based on demonstrated ability rather than an arbitrary timeline.

The primary goal is to earn the crew leader's trust through consistent workmanship, initiative, communication, good judgment, and reliable execution of assigned objectives. Employees who demonstrate competence may receive independent assignments sooner while continuing to coordinate with the crew leader
