Unit Coordinator

Reporting to the Program Director and/or the Executive Director, the BIND Unit Coordinator is responsible for assisting and supporting Member activities within organized work units at the BIND program. Clubhouse work units are essential and vital to the daily operation of the organization. The Unit Coordinator facilitates the work of member groups to complete tasks required for successful daily clubhouse operation, including Kitchen and Maintenance, Outreach and Advocacy, Communications, Wellness & Work Readiness Units. Working alongside members, the Unit Coordinator capitalizes on the strengths of each member, supports the acquisition of new skills, facilitates conflict resolution, models appropriate workplace behaviors and supports teamwork. The Unit Coordinator should also anticipate helping members grow and develop personal goals and interact with community service providers, special guests and visitors to facilitate enhanced member programming and spread the word about our mission. The Unit Coordinator position carries the potential to evolve and grow with the organization. 5 days/week, approximately 36-40 hours/week total Total Annual Compensation, $40,000 to $48,000 Performance will be formally reviewed following 90 days of employment and at least annually thereafter. Reporting to work on major holidays, weekends, or evenings is not expected routinely with the exception of fundraising events Annual Vacation Time Provided: Unlimited days (up to 10 consecutive) with pre-approval. Annual Paid Sick Leave Provided: 10 days a year with proper documentation. Annual reimbursement for licensing, certification(s) or education expenses is limited to $500 Minimum Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in social services, Rehabilitation Studies, Speech-language Pathology or related field Must demonstrate commitment to growth and demonstrating BIN Core Values Adequate work experience in social sciences, community program development, hospital setting or rehabilitation Manage member emergencies following safety protocols and parameters including managing them as the sole staff member for brief periods. Proficiency in the use of Google Suite and Canva. Demonstrated ability to present effective and compelling verbal and written messages to individuals, groups and the general public Current CPR and First Aid certification Reliable and on-time attendance. Work Environment & Physical Demands The Unit Coordinator operates in a professional office environment with intermittent work completed outdoors in various weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets as well as kitchen equipment/small appliances. While performing the duties of this position, the Unit Coordinator is regularly required to communicate effectively, stand, walk, use and/or tolerate exposure to typical cleaning products, bend & reach with hands and arms. The Unit Coordinator must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, handle typical household cleaning supplies, and use a stepladder safely. Exposure to germs, pathogens or communicable illness is potential but not probable. Travel to attend continuing education opportunities, BIND On The Go sessions and to local retailers for purchase of program supplies is possible. Develop goals, objectives and structured tasks for the work unit(s) assigned. Identify tasks that provide meaningful work that capitalizes on strengths and personal interests of the program members; navigate task modification and maximize accessibility for persons with a variety of abilities and disabilities. Provide feedback to members with attention to positive reinforcement, while ensuring adequate time for members to complete individual jobs/tasks, and providing recognition of member contributions no matter how small. Ensure that members complete their work in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment in accordance with organization policies, procedures and regulations. Assist with conflict resolution among members, staff and volunteers as needed – with emphasis on the members resolving the situation on their own. This may require coaching on appropriate behaviors and responses. Assist the members in scheduling and coordinating program events including community guest presentations, other educational opportunities, and BIND On The Go sessions (moderator - as needed). Follow a budget for the work unit activities and prudently manage the organization's resources within those budget guidelines. Develop and utilize forms and records in coordination with co-workers, members and volunteers to document the member activities, attendance, outcomes data, behavior action plans and progress in meeting individual member goals. Maintain member records and documentation within their purview and in compliance with CARF accreditation and HHSC requirements.
