What you will be doing: In this role, you will conduct investigations into allegations of fraud by applicants and recipients of Public Assistance Programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Alaska Temporary Assistance Program, Adult Public Assistance Program, and Medicaid Programs. You will prepare cases for criminal prosecution and Administrative Disqualification Hearings. You will represent the Department in cases presented for Administrative Disqualification Hearings or in criminal proceedings. This position will require phone and in-person contact with witnesses, public assistance recipients, and individuals accused of fraud. This Position Requires Frequent Travel within the State of Alaska.

The working environment you can expect: This position may be located in Anchorage or Fairbanks. Depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate The Anchorage position is located in the Frontier Building, located in Midtown Anchorage. The Fairbanks position is located at 675 7th Avenue. You will have the opportunity to take initiative and work independently in a vibrant environment that keeps you engaged and challenged. There is potential for a hybrid telework agreement after you complete the required probation period.

Special Notice: This position requires frequent travel (1 to 3 times a month), sometimes on short notice, to remote areas of Alaska via small aircraft. A valid and current Alaskan Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.

Law: Knowledge of State and federal laws, including legal and court procedures, regulations, guidelines, precedents, admissibility of evidence, case preparation, and/or settlements for applicable areas of law practiced or supported. Equivalent to those typically gained by: Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in performing duties such as assisting in investigative work or legal research; preparing legal documents; conducting searches to locate individuals and/or assets; providing accurate interpretative information on laws and regulations; conducting administrative reviews of cases under appeal and issuing decisions; conducting interviews; locating and gathering information and data, evidence, and/or testimony to be used in civil or criminal proceedings, administrative actions, or governmentally regulated activities; conducting adjudications of claims; and/or drafting documents in support of attorneys or agencies engaged in administrative adjudication.
