Campus Rec Summer Temp

The Campus Rec Summer Temp is responsible for performing operational tasks for respective Campus Recreation programs and facilities. They will provide excellent customer service, maintain facility and asset cleanliness, ensure that all policies are followed by guests and participants, and ensure all safety measures are being implemented.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The Campus Rec Summer Temp is responsible for:

• Ensuring customer safety, facility cleanliness, effective operations, and a high level of customer service at the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre during operational hours.
• Assisting in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies at the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, ensuring compliance with University policies.
• Running lifts, checking passes, securing waivers, assisting with tubing runs, and assigning rental equipment to customers.
• Effectively communicating any issues or customer complaints to the Snowflex Manager on shift.
• Ensuring clean and organized outdoor facilities through stocking supplies and maintaining clean restrooms and public spaces.
• Assisting with maintenance of rental equipment and the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, including regular cleaning.
• Regularly assisting with events and operations during evening, nights or weekend hours.
• Attending all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.
• Performing all other tasks assigned by the Assistant Director of Slope Operations to assist with Campus Recreation operations and programming.
• Working effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.

Qualifications and Credentials

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
• Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a customer service position
• Experience in the Ski and Snowboard Industry
• Desire to pursue recreation management as a career field

Physical and Sensory Abilities

• Frequently required to sit or stand in one location for extended periods to perform tasks assigned to varying positions.
• Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move around the facility
• Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
• Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds.

Working Conditions

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position will vary depending on facility need. Employee can be assigned to an outside position that will deal with extreme temperatures and weather conditions. Employees may also be scheduled in climate controlled areas during a shift.

Summer Temporary employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
