Registered Nurse (RN) - Neurosurgical Unit

The neurosurgical unit offers exceptional opportunities to provide care for a diverse patient population. Join multidisciplinary teams specialized in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular, and epilepsy surgery. This mixed-acuity unit includes both floor-level care and an 8-bed high-acuity step-down unit for patients with complex needs requiring hemodynamic and neurological monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive neuro assessments and document findings accurately.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous therapy, including Cardene drips and 3% NS.
• Monitor patients post-operatively for complications related to procedures like carotid endarterectomy and aneurysm coiling/clipping.
• Provide care for patients with advanced medical devices such as ventricular-peritoneal shunts and deep brain stimulators.
• Perform Q1 neuro checks, manage EVDs, lumbar drains, and subdural drains.
• Assist in seizure management and related interventions.

Requirements

• Must have step-down and progressive care unit experience.
• Current RN License in New York is required.
• Two (2) years of experience in high acuity stroke and neurosurgery nursing is mandatory.
• Telemetry experience is required.
• BLS certification is essential.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
• NIHSS certification is required.
