United Way of New York City (UWNYC) is seeking a visionary, strategic, and results-driven Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead the organization's next chapter of philanthropic growth.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the CDO serves as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, ELT and Board of Directors while leading a high-performing Resource Development and Marketing organization. This executive will shape the future of philanthropy at UWNYC by developing and executing a bold fundraising strategy that expands philanthropic support, strengthens donor engagement, and elevates the organization's visibility and impact across New York City. This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished fundraising executive who is passionate about community impact, organizational growth, and leading transformational change.

The Opportunity

The Chief Development Officer will lead the organization's comprehensive fundraising and brand strategy, positioning UWNYC for long-term growth and greater community impact. Working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team, Community Impact leaders, and United Way Worldwide, the CDO will establish a clear vision for philanthropy while fostering a culture of fundraising throughout the organization.

The CDO will lead efforts to:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that drives sustainable revenue growth.
• Expand individual, major gift, corporate, foundation, and institutional giving.
• Grow digital fundraising, donor engagement, and brand awareness.
• Strengthen strategic partnerships across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
• Build and lead a high-performing Resource Development team.
• Collaborate across the organization to align fundraising strategies with mission priorities and community needs.
• Serve as a visible ambassador for UWNYC, cultivating relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and civic leaders.

• Brand strategy and marketing
• Signature events and donor experiences
• Board engagement and fundraising
• Development operations and CRM strategy
• Team leadership and organizational culture

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking an executive leader who brings:

• Bachelor's degree (required).
• 15+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising leadership.
• Demonstrated success securing transformational gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and institutional funders.
• Experience developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies that deliver measurable results.
• A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing fundraising teams.
• Experience serving as a trusted strategic advisor to CEOs and Boards of Directors.
• Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and strategic planning skills.
• Experience leveraging marketing, communications, and digital engagement to strengthen fundraising outcomes.
• Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge is preferred.
