Job Overview A law firm seeks a Patent Agent in Washington, DC to assist with patent research, application preparation, and prosecution activities. The role involves managing patent portfolios and providing client support with minimal attorney oversight. A hybrid work schedule is available. Duties Draft, prepare, and submit patent applications to the USPTO. Review and respond to communications from patent offices. Engage in client interactions independently. Guide and train IP support professionals. Support patent enforcement, licensing, and business transactions. Assist with patentability, validity, and infringement opinions. Conduct complex research and analysis. Requirements 4-7 years of patent agent experience. Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Familiarity with AI‑driven software and FinTech platforms. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills. Ability to manage deadlines and monitor prosecution docket. Education Advanced scientific degree (M.S., Ph.D.) or Bachelor's in a technical discipline with relevant experience. Certifications Passed Patent Bar Exam. Skills Sound scientific and technical knowledge. In‑depth understanding of patentability and patent law. Ability to draft complex patent applications and responses.
