This hands-on role will build and continuously evolve the data platform, business applications, and integration tools. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy; ensuring scalability, reliability and secure solutions. The ideal candidate is going to be a hands-on engineer, with strong knowledge of AWS Products to help build out data pipelines, create jobs, manage the quality of the data warehouse and integrated tools.This is a hybrid-role located in our NYC office. You will be in office 4X a week. RESPONSIBILITIES Design, implement, and maintain scalable data architecture, pipelines and modeling strategies that power our enterprise data warehouse on AWSBuild and manage data models and schemas in Redshift and other data technologies, enabling self-service analyticsMonitor, optimize, and troubleshoot data jobs, ensuring high availability and performance of data infrastructureImplement data quality checks, validation rules, and alerting mechanisms to ensure trust in dataLeverage AWS services like Glue, Lambda, S3, Athena, and EMR to build modular, reusable data solutionsPartner with Data Science, Analytics, and Business teams to understand data needs, prioritize use cases, and deliver reliable datasets and modelsDrive improvements in data lineage, cataloging, and documentation to ensure transparency and reusability of data assetsCreate and maintain technical documentation and version-controlled workflows (e.g., Git, dbt)Contribute to and promote a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring peers and advocating for scalable and modern data practicesParticipate in sprint planning, code reviews, and team retrospectives as part of an Agile development processPromote reusable patterns, modular designs, and automation where possible to ensure long-term scalabilityStay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and automationQualifications6+ years of experience in software/data engineering, with a proven track record of building robust data systems (prior leadership or mentorship experience is a plus)Expertise in designing and implementing enterprise data warehouses, including star schemas and dimensional modeling techniquesExpert in SQL, with ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work across large datasets; python proficiency is a strong plusHands-on experience with AWS data ecosystem including Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, EC2, DynamoDB, Lambda, and RedisFamiliarity with dbt Labs and modern ELT/analytics engineering practicesExperience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured dataKnowledge of data governance, quality assurance, and observability tools to ensure data integrity and trustProficiency in creating technical documentation, SOPs, and maintaining clear communication with cross-functional teamsA problem-solving mindset, with the ability to take ownership and drive solutions from design to deploymentPay Transparency: $145k - $160kAdditional InformationAs a member of the Equinox team you will receive:We offer competitive salary, benefits, and industry leading commission opportunities for club employeesComplimentary Club membershipPerks and incentives with our products and services including Personal Training, Pilates, Spa and ShopThis job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
