Job Summary:
The healthcare organization is seeking a PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse for a facility located in Bangor, Maine. The position requires the candidate to have experience in pre-operative and post-anesthesia care, with a focus on cardiac, orthopedic, gynecological, maternity, thoracic, and pediatric procedures. The shift schedule includes rotating 9, 10, or 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of orientation.

Job Details:

• Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Education and Experience: 2-3 years of experience in pre-operative or post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
• Schedule: Rotating shifts of 9, 10, or 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Call: Cardiac call scheduled once per week and one full weekend per month, from 1500 hours to 0530 hours the next day on weekdays; from 1500 hours on Friday to 0530 hours on Monday during weekends.
• Experience in cardiac induction bays assisting anesthesia, ICU ventilator management, critical care drips, and working with Cerner electronic medical record system is required.
• Clinical responsibilities include caring for patients undergoing simple to complex surgeries such as trauma, orthopedics, gynecology, maternity, thoracic, and pediatric procedures, with possible ICU and ventilated/ intubated patients.
• Must be familiar with charting protocols and electrolyte and Heparin protocols, and have experience with ICU vent management and critical care drips.
• The facilitys daily staffing includes 11 nurses in PACU (excluding Charge RN) and 9 nurses in Pre-op (excluding Charge RN).
• Additional notes: Nurses will wear hospital scrubs; orientation consists of 2 days hospital orientation and 2 days on the unit.
