Chrysalis Psychiatry is a growing outpatient mental health practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico nestled in the Rio Grande Valley with the beautiful Sandia Mountains at its edge. We specialize in high quality, evidence-based treatments, offering comprehensive services such as medication management and interventional therapies for PTSD, depression, and other mental health conditions.

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team. The Financial Controller is responsible for the organization’s financial and accounting operations, including accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, cash management, budgeting, revenue cycle oversight, provider compensation calculations, and purchasing. The Controller ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records and provides financial analysis, strategy, and recommendations to the COO and executive leadership to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Own and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports and maintain complete financial records.

• Oversee purchasing, financial transactions, and internal controls to ensure appropriate documentation, accuracy, and financial integrity.

• Identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities and communicate significant financial issues to the COO and executive leadership.

Financial Planning & Strategy

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management in partnership with executive leadership.

• Develop financial analyses, projections, and recommendations to support operational planning and organizational strategy.

• Monitor financial performance, cash flow, liquidity, and spending against established budgets and communicate significant variances.

• Develop and implement financial strategies that support organizational stability, operational needs, and long-term growth.

Revenue Cycle & Provider Compensation

• Oversee revenue cycle operations, including billing, accounts receivable, collections, and the organization’s billing function.

• Supervise and support the biller and monitor revenue cycle performance, accuracy, collections, and opportunities for improvement.

• Oversee provider compensation calculations and ensure accurate application of established compensation structures and agreements.

Payroll & Employee-Related Financial Administration

• Own the financial and accounting aspects of payroll in coordination with HR, payroll providers, and leadership.

• Ensure payroll taxes, liabilities, deductions, benefits, retirement contributions, and other employee-related financial obligations are accurately recorded and reconciled.

• Coordinate with HR and external providers to resolve payroll and employee-related financial matters.

Banking, Financing & Compliance

• Manage the organization’s banking relationships and serve as the primary financial contact with banking institutions.

• Oversee financial activities related to financing and debt and provide analysis and recommendations regarding financing needs and options.

• Coordinate tax, audit, and regulatory financial activities with external accountants, tax professionals, auditors, and other advisors.

• Maintain financial records and documentation necessary for tax preparation, audits, and regulatory requirements.

Financial Systems & Process Improvement

• Maintain and oversee accounting software, financial systems, reporting tools, and related processes.

• Develop and maintain accounting procedures, financial controls, and documentation.

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.

• Ensure financial information is maintained securely and confidentially.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Serve as the organization’s primary financial resource to the COO and executive leadership, providing financial information, analysis, and recommendations.

• Collaborate with executive leadership, HR, clinical leadership, managers, and external financial partners.

• Provide financial guidance within the scope of the position and escalate matters requiring executive-level decision-making.

• Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, patient, and other sensitive information.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Strong analytical and financial management skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Highly organized with strong follow-through and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Strong judgment, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential financial and organizational information.

• Ability to identify discrepancies and trends, analyze financial information, and develop practical solutions.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial information to non-financial leaders.

• Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and communicate effectively with leadership.

• Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and financial reporting tools.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, preferably including experience in a healthcare or small-to-mid-sized organization.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and internal controls.

• Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.

• Experience managing or coordinating accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax-related financial activities.

• CPA or other relevant professional certification a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with applicable standards.

• Must be able to talk, listen, and communicate clearly by telephone.?

Compensation & Benefits:

• $95,000 - $115,000 per year
