This position will support the research team with study-related procedures, animal handling, biological sample collection, equipment setup, data collection, and general field visit logistics. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working around horses, and able to work effectively in a field-based research environment. Previous experience with horses, laboratory procedures, or research is preferred but not required. Duties and Responsibilities Assist with preparation and execution of field study visits at participating equine facilities. Assist with safe handling and restraint of horses during research procedures. Assist with collection, labeling, processing, and storage of biological samples according to study protocols. Assist with placement and use of research equipment and monitoring devices. Record study observations and research data accurately and consistently. Assist with study supplies, equipment, and vehicle preparation before and after field visits. Maintain organized research materials and ensure equipment and supplies are cleaned and properly stored following visits. Follow all study protocols, animal welfare requirements, and laboratory safety procedures. Communicate effectively with study personnel and assist with general research tasks as needed. Travel with the research team to field study locations as needed. $16-$18; commensurate with experience Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work safely and comfortably around horses. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Reliable transportation to the University of Florida and ability to travel with the research team to field study locations as needed. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
