Monday - Friday, 0645 - 1515 with call/lates and weekend requirements

Job Description

The Surgical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the surgeon. This role requires a thorough knowledge of surgical anatomy and physiology, as well as operative techniques relevant to various surgical procedures. The Surgical Assistant is responsible for patient preparation and operation during surgical procedures, maintaining clinical competence, and effectively participating in all surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Assist efficiently with various surgical specialties.
• Actively participate in room turnover and demonstrate proper positioning, draping, and prepping procedures.
• Contribute to reducing surgical supply expenses by minimizing waste.
• Adhere to AORN Standards and Recommended Practices for Infection Prevention.
• Engage actively in the Time Out process on all surgical cases prior to incision, following the Universal Protocol.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Surgical Assistant (SA).
• Graduation from an accredited program in Physician Assistant (PA) or Surgical Assistant (SA) or a recognized International Medical Graduate.
• Current CPR certification required (BLS AHA).
• Experience in orthopedic, neuro/orthopedic spine, general/robotics, urology/gyn, and vascular surgical procedures.
