Lead LPN or Lead Certified Medical Assistant (Franklin Urgent Care) - 40 hours

Position Overview Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $19.21 – $46.36 Schedule Details: Monday through Friday; Weekends – Every Other Weekend Scheduled Hours: 7:45 AM – 8:15 PM Shift: 1 – Day Shift, 12 Hours (United States of America) Hours: 40 Cost Center: 34000 – 7004 Franklin Urgent Care This position may have a signing bonus available. A member of the Recruitment Team will confirm eligibility during the interview process. Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, the Medical Assistant III (MA III) provides clinical care and performs clerical duties to support office/clinic functions. The MA III performs in a lead role capacity to support and mentor Medical Assistants in a physician's office or ambulatory clinic setting. Responsibilities Distributes and monitors the flow of work for an assigned group of employees. Provides training and technical assistance to employees within the assigned work area. Assists manager in assuring that assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources, materials, and methods. Provides recommendations to manager for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. Provides input to manager on assigned staff for annual performance evaluations. Leads process improvement projects utilizing Lean Yellow Belt concepts. Escorts patients to examination rooms, takes and records vital signs (blood pressures, temperatures, height, weight, etc.), collects and documents patient health status, history, and monitors patient progress following standard procedures. Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, Point of Care (POC) tests according to clinic/office standards. May prepare, document, and administer non-intravenous injections as directed or required by office/clinic, within scope of practice. Assists in performing routine physical examination or clinical procedures. Reviews laboratory results and ensures abnormal results are immediately brought to the attention of the physicians and others as appropriate. Provides clear, timely communication to the appropriate licensed clinician regarding observations and changes reported in patient per office/clinic guidelines. Sets up/ prepares rooms based on patient care requirements; assists in setup, maintenance, disassembly, and cleaning of patient equipment. Ensures instruments and scopes are cleaned, sterilized, and repackaged per office/clinic protocol. Operates the sterilization/cleaning systems, as necessary. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients as directed following policy standards. Utilizes proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities. Follows procedures for arriving patients and scheduling appointments. Assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures. Maintains assigned office and/or clinical supplies; assures accurate inventory of supplies based on approved levels; rotates stock as required; initiates requisitions for re-supply or special items. Maintains logs, organizes patient care chart, and/or maintains medical records. May enter data or retrieve medical information from the electronic medical record. Processes prescription and refills as directed per procedure. Performs a variety of clerical duties per office/clinic protocol such as typing, filing, scheduling appointments, generating letters and form preparation, receiving/returning/directing phone calls per office/clinic protocol, and documenting in patient record as required or directed. Collaborates with insurers to verify coverage, eligibility, and coverage; prior authorizations for procedures, medications, and tests as needed. Follows guidelines established by insurers to ensure that pre-authorization, pre-certification, and clinician referrals for treatment are obtained prior to patient visits. Collects co-payments from patients for visits and maintains records. All responsibilities are essential job functions. Qualifications License/Certification/Education (Required) High School Diploma or equivalent. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; if not available upon hire, obtain within 3 months from date of hire. If certification is not obtained within 3 months, the employee may be terminated or may apply for another position for which they meet the minimum qualifications. Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.). Must obtain Yellow Belt certification within 1 year from date of hire/transfer. Experience / Skills (Required) Previous experience working in a medical physician office or ambulatory care clinic setting in a hospital. Medical terminology and computer skills. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner. Strong interpersonal relationship building skills to gather information from individuals that create a collaborative work environment. Problem‑solving abilities for routine situations and comfort requesting assistance from identified resources when needed. Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships. Preferred Experience 3 years of medical assistant experience in a medical physician office or ambulatory clinic setting. Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
