Assistant Softball Coach

Job Summary Wheaton College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Norton, Massachusetts, is looking for a motivated, energetic, passionate and caring individual to assist our softball program. During this full‑time 10‑month position, the Assistant Coach helps prepare the team for a full intercollegiate varsity season, including in‑season practices, scouting of opponents and game preparation. Responsibilities Prepare the team for a full intercollegiate varsity season, including in‑season practices. Scout opponents and prepare game strategies. Identify, evaluate, and recruit qualified prospective student‑athletes. Maintain a commitment to teaching and supporting the holistic development of the student‑athlete. Serve in an administrative capacity as directed by the Athletic Administration. Comply with all NCAA Division III, NEWMAC, and Wheaton College rules and regulations. Minimum Qualifications Individuals must possess the skills and abilities or be able to teach and demonstrate all aspects of the sport they are coaching. The candidate must be able to work independently and have the ability to work evenings and weekends. Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Valid driver’s license. Bachelor’s degree required and 1‑3 years of collegiate playing and/or coaching experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. 1‑3 years of collegiate coaching experience. Compensation To attract and retain the most talented individuals, Wheaton College maintains a flexible and competitive staff compensation and benefits program. The anticipated starting salary for this position is $30,000.
